People submit poetry, artwork and photography, from all over the country, for free, around the theme of :
‘I Feel Better When I Am…’
Every entry in the poetry and artwork category is featured on the website for everyone to browse and view. Then, once the closing date is reached, 50 pieces of photography, artwork and poetry are selected by professionals at the top of their field. The selected entries are then published in The Yellow Book.
The book was developed to aid wellbeing and promote self help techniques. It also features recovery information and support from the Institute of Psychiatry, Kings College London, Royal College of Psychiatrists, the NHS Confederation, MHN and NHS England.
Information and signposting are also included. Each charity and organisation involved have their own page dedicated to the great work that they do, with signposts.
The book was first published in 2013 and then in its current form in 2015.
Develop-Insite CIC, is a social enterprise that facilitates positive mental health projects, and in 2016, collaborated on a ground-breaking pilot at Peterborough Regional College to produce the first ever personalised Yellow Book. Launching on 25 May 2016, the PRC Yellow Book will be given to every full time student as a wellbeing resource.
In addition to The Yellow Book, a music album is also created using selected poems for the lyrics; selected pieces of artwork or photography for the front/back covers and selected poems as spoken word pieces for the B sides. Sales of the project album help to enable the sustainment of the project.
